Truth Shrine

Description

This is something I created a while back, but never shown online. It's a shrine to Truth and Creativity. Right now, it's in the hallway at the School of Creative Arts, at James Cook university.

The deal is, last year, I made a project called the "Truth Booth" where people could interact by using a supplied ink brush and paint to write something truthful and submit it to the box. The box was open at one end, so it was able to be read by everyone. The way it worked, it was anonymous.

Anyway, now that brush became very very overused and nasty, but I kept it because it was used by so many people to write something truthful, so I felt like it was imbued with a kind of culture and history. This year I had to come up with another project that would breath life into an inanimate object, so I chose the brush from the previous project. And I chose to make it the centrepiece of a shrine to "Truth and Creativity".

My stepdad helped me construct the wooden parts, and secured a mirror for me too. And I used found objects and paper for the rest. So inside the shrine, there is "Shide" the folded paper, A horizontal scroll that depicts the School of Creative Arts, and it's surroundings, an incense burner and free incense to burn, a Pedastal for the brush to sit on, and a mirror at the back. It does resemble some Japanese shinto shrines, but I loosely followed their design.

Feel free to ask about it, I'm not always good at describing my own stuff like this. But questions are easy to answer. :D

But what is the use of the shrine in it? Usually shrines are for dead people or am I wrong?
